Paper petition presented in the House of Commons, on Thursday, 8 April 2010 by Andrew Pelling.
Presented Petitions Extension of the Franchise to 16-18 Year Olds
Public Petition of the students of Coloma Convent High School and the people of Croydon, Declares that the franchise should be extended to 16 and 17 year olds, so that 16-18 year olds who can currently pay tax, marry, start a family and join the armed forces can have influence in our democracy. The Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to bring in a bill to enfranchise 16 and 17 year olds. And the Petitioners remain, etc. -[Presented by Mr. Andrew Pelling .] [P000822]
