Netherlands: 2021 general election
Early voting taking place from 15-16 March, with the official day being 17 March.
37 political parties contested the election and 17 went on to win at least one of the 150 seats in the chamber.
The election campaign took place under the cloud of the Covid-19 pandemic and during a national lockdown. This meant candidates had limited opportunities to interact with voters.
Preliminary results show Prime Minister Mark Rutte is on course to convene his fourth consecutive coalition government and is holding talks with other parties to form an administration.
