Components of GDP: Economic indicators
Economic indicators are quick-read summaries of the latest data focusing on different aspects of the UK economy. The full suite of indicators can be found on the main Economic Indicators page.
GDP can be analysed in terms of the output produced by different industries, or in terms of spending by households, business and government.
GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.3% in June 2026, following no growth (0.0% change) in May.
GDP by industry
Services are the largest part of the economy – making up four-fifths of output in 2024. Service sector output grew by 0.4% in June 2026.
Manufacturing output decreased by 0.5% in June 2026. Manufacturing is part of the wider production sector; production sector output decreased by 0.2% in June 2026.
Construction sector output decreased by 0.1% in June 2026.

GDP by expenditure
Household spending is the largest element of spending across the economy, accounting for 59% of the total in 2025.
In April to June 2026, there was an increase of 0.3% in household spending compared with the previous quarter.
Government consumption is estimated to have decreased by 0.3% in April to June 2026. Overall investment (GFCF) rose by 1.2% and, within this, business investment grew by 1.7%. Exports were up 0.5% and imports rose by 0.5%.
