Gross domestic product (GDP): Economic indicators

Economic indicators are quick-read summaries of the latest data focusing on different aspects of the UK economy. The full suite of indicators can be found on the main Economic Indicators page.

GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.4% in Quarter 2 2026 (April-June 2026) compared to the previous three-month period (January-March 2026), following growth of 0.6% in Quarter 1.

GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.3% in June 2026 compared to May, following zero growth (0.0%) in May.

The services sector grew by 0.5% in Quarter 2 2026 and construction grew by 0.3%, but there was zero growth in production.

In cash terms, GDP was £3,034 billion in 2025.

GDP growth forecasts

In their March 2026 Economic and fiscal outlook, the Office for Budget Responsibility’s (OBR) GDP growth forecast was 1.1% in 2026 and 1.6% in 2027.

The Treasury’s August 2026 survey of independent forecasts showed an average forecast of 1.1% for 2026 and 1.2% for 2027.
