Personal identification technologies
Recent proposals for updating the driving licence format have coincided with increased parliamentary interest in the possibility of a National ID card. At the same time, advances in technology are increasing the options available for confirming an individual’s identity.
This POSTnote reviews the technical options involved and the issues raised by different types of ID cards.
