The English Wine Industry

- Official statistics show that there are around 30 wine manufacturing businesses in the UK. The industry employs fewer than 500 people.
- In 2015, 12.8 million hectolitres of wine were consumed in the UK in total, but only 18,000 hectolitres or 0.1% of this was produced in the UK.
- The UK produced 1.3 million tonnes of wine on average per year between 2000 and 2013.
- In 2015, the UK exported £441 million worth of wine; in the same year wine imports totalled £2.9 billion
