Pensions dashboards policy

What is a pensions dashboard?

A pensions dashboard is an online tool where people can access their pension information.

In the UK, these dashboards will show information about pensions from different providers and the State Pension securely and in one place. They are not available yet.

Why is the government supporting pensions dashboards?

The government wants pensions dashboards to help people understand their pensions and plan for later life, make more informed financial decisions and connect them with ‘lost’ pension pots.

Who will provide pensions dashboards?

The legislation – the Pension Schemes Act 2021 - allows for both public and private sector dashboards. In October 2024, the government said it would prioritise the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard, developed by the Money and Pensions Service - an arms-length body of the Department for Work and Pensions, before turning its attention to private sector dashboards.

Who else is developing pensions dashboards?

The government still intends to enable private organisations to build and operate their own dashboards. The Pensions Dashboard Programme is setting up a group to work on their development, made up of organisations planning to operate dashboards.

All dashboards will connect to a single digital ecosystem, developed by the Pensions Dashboards Programme, meaning people will be able to see all of their pensions in one place.

The Pensions Regulator and the Financial Conduct Authority will regulate the pension schemes and providers sharing data with dashboards. The Financial Conduct Authority will also authorise and regulate pensions dashboard operators.

When will pensions dashboards be available?

Legislation requires pension schemes and providers to connect their data to the pensions dashboards ecosystem by 31 October 2026. In July 2026, they were on course for this, with around 85% of pensions records connected.

The Money and Pensions Service expects the MoneyHelper Pensions Dashboard to be available in 2027/28. They will provide a further update on launch plans around the connection deadline at the end of October.

Industry will receive six months’ notice of the launch date. Private sector dashboards are expected to follow. As required by legislation, the Secretary of State will give six months’ notice of their launch (‘the dashboards available point’).
