Diseases: Medical Treatments
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to the Answer of 4 November 2016 to Question 51408, what estimate he has made of the potential increase in costs associated with long-term conditions for each year between 2016 and 2035.
- Answer
-
An ageing population and increasing multimorbidity means both prevalence of long term conditions and the associated treatment costs to the National Health Service are expected to increase. The analysis and forecasts produced as part of the Department’s Long Term Condition Compendium of Information, published in 2012, are the most recent estimates in this area.
