Welfare Reform and Work Bill

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, with reference to the oral contribution by the Minister of State for Welfare Reform of 27 January 2016, in the House of Lords, Official Report, column 1315, on the Welfare Reform and Work Bill, whether the £60 to £100 million per year proposed under his Department's Green Paper on work, health and disability to be spent on supporting employment and support allowance claimants into work is in addition to or instead of funding currently being spent in the Work Programme and in Work Choice.

Answer: The £60 - £100 million per year is additional funding that will deliver a broad range of employment and health support. This will be in tandem with the change to the ESA Work-Related Activity Component and UC Limited Capability for Work element. As set out in the Work, Health and Disability Green Paper some of it will be used to fund additional places on Work Choice and the Work and Health Programme when it is launched.
