Protection of Badgers Act 1992

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how many people were (a) proceeded against and (b) convicted of an offence under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992 in each police force area in (i) 2015 and (ii) 2016.

Answer

The following information was provided by the Ministry of Justice.

The number of defendants proceeded against at magistrates’ courts and found guilty at all courts for offences under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, the Deer Act 1991 and the Wild Mammals (Protection) Act 1996, in England and Wales, in 2015, can be viewed in the attached table. Publication of 2016 data is planned for May 2017.
