Electric Vehicles: Peterlee

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, if his Department will provide funding for the installation of an electric vehicle rapid-charging point in Peterlee.

Answer

Highways England currently has a £15m programme to roll out rapid chargepoints at least every 20 miles along 95% of the strategic road network. As part of the Autumn Statement 2016, a further £80m was made available for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Government intends to set out its plans for this funding as part of the Zero Emission Road Transport Strategy due to be published by March 2018.
