To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, pursuant to the Answer of 28 November 2017 to Question 116289, what consultations the Government has had with independent economic experts on the structure and powers of the proposed Industrial Strategy Council.

Through the consultation on the Green Paper, over 2,000 organisations from all parts of the United Kingdom helped shape the industrial strategy. This included various informative representations recommending the creation of an independent body to help support its implementation. We will begin the process to establish the Council as soon as possible. Our aim is for it to start work in spring 2018.
