To ask the Secretary of State for Education, if he will take steps to reduce class sizes in secondary schools in Portsmouth South.

The average class size for state-funded secondary schools in Portsmouth is 21.5, which is in line with the national average of 20.8. It is up to secondary schools to decide on the organisation of classes based on local needs and circumstances, ensuring they are consistent with raising attainment and helping pupils to achieve their potential.
