Public Footpaths: South Yorkshire
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, how much funding his Department has allocated for the repair and maintenance of footpaths in South Yorkshire.
- Answer
-
Local highway authorities are responsible for the maintenance of public rights of way. The Revenue Support Grant (RSG) is the support provided to local authorities from central government to deliver various duties, including maintenance. The RSG is managed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
It is not ring-fenced so it is for local authorities to manage and decide how to spend their own budgets.
