Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what progress has been made on the award of contracts for genomics laboratory services.

Answer

As part of the Genomic Testing Services procurement NHS England is procuring seven Genomic Laboratory Hubs to act as a national network to deliver an equitable national genomic testing service. The procurement was launched in December 2017 and the evaluation process is currently ongoing.

The Genomic Laboratory Hubs will form a key part of the infrastructure for the national Genomic Medicine Service, which will go live from October 2018.
