To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant the Answer of 4 February 2019 to Question 214560 on Buildings: Insulation, whether the bespoke test methodology developed by the Building Research Establishment will examine dangerous gases produced by the burning of building materials during a fire.

The project is focused on investigating the burning behaviour of cladding materials in order to consider their contribution to fire spread. Whilst controlling fire spread will tend to limit the production of smoke, the test methodology does not include measurement of toxicity.
