Taxis: Licensing

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what plans he has to bring forward legislative proposals to implement the recommendations of the Government's Task and Finish Group on Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle Licensing

Answer: The Government will continue to engage with the sector on our plans for reforming the regulation of taxis and private hire vehicles including options to introduce new legislation. We are supporting licensing authorities to make use of their extensive existing powers; statutory guidance will shortly be issued to licensing authorities on protecting passengers and updated best practice guidance on other matters will follow later this year.
