To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the policy statement, the UK's points-based immigration system, published on 19 February 2020, what the planned timescale is for refining that system post-implementation; and what plans she has to consult (a) applicants, (b) businesses and (c) other organisations in that process.
- Answer
-
The new points-based system will be introduced from 1 January 2021. The operation of the system will be kept under review and, as the policy statement published on 19 February makes clear, further changes will be made following consultation with stakeholders across our United Kingdom.
A programme of engagement will begin this month to raise awareness of the new system, ensuring those affected by the changes are fully aware of what it means for them and understand how the system will operate.
