Community Orchards

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps he is taking to help support community orchards.

Answer: As set out in the England Trees Action Plan, the Government intends to support community orchards through proposed changes to the National Planning Policy Framework, making clear the expectation that trees, such as community orchards, should be incorporated into new developments. We are committed to ensuring towns and cities are greener and more climate resilient, with trees on streets, in parks and urban orchards, supported through the Urban Tree Challenge and Local Authority Treescape Funds.
