To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer on 2 December 2022 to Question 95914 on Police: Footwear, whether her Department considers boots or similar footwear to be necessary equipment for a front line police officer to carry out their job effectively.

It is an operational matter for Chief Constables to ensure that the police are provided with the correct equipment and resources they need, including appropriate footwear, in order to carry out their job effectively.
Determinations made under the Police Regulations 2003 provide that chief officers shall determine what uniform and equipment is provided.
