Crematoriums: Fees and Charges

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, if he will take steps to regulate crematorium fees.

Answer

The Government does not have operational responsibility for the provision of cremation services. The service is provided either by the local authority or a private company. As the price of a cremation is a commercial decision, it is appropriate that this decision lies with the cremation authority or the crematoriums.
