To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, with reference to the press release entitled Avanti West Coast placed on short-term contract to drastically improve services published on 7 October 2022, whether the management fee for the 6 month period from October to April 2022 will be lower than the six month period from (a) March to October 2022 and (b) October 2021 to March 2022.

Operators are paid a fixed management fee, which remains unchanged, plus a variable performance payment which varies according to the performance score awarded to the operator following an independent evaluation.
The independent evaluation will take account of the full range of evidence relevant to the period in question.
