Community Infrastructure Levy

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether his Department compensate councils for money lost from previously approved planning proposals for Community Infrastructure Levy funding.

Answer

The government does not compensate local authorities for money lost from previously approved planning proposals for Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding.

CIL charging authorities are responsible for charging, collecting, spending and generally administering CIL in their area, in line with the CIL Regulations 2010 (as amended) and with regard to government guidance.
