Companies: Registration

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, with reference to the Companies House press release entitled Progress made in cleaning up Companies House register as further steps taken to tackle economic crime, published on 11 June 2026, how many company directors and people with significant control remain unverified.

Answer

A person may have verified their identify with one company and not yet verified, or be due to verify, for all their appointments.

As of 18 June 2026, there are 3.63 million unverified Director appointments, of which 830,000 are past their verification deadline. As of 18 June 2026, there are 3.3 million appointments for a Person with Significant Control that are unverified, of which 990,000 are past their verification deadline.

Some individuals may appear more than once in both groups.
