Local Plans

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 19 June 2026 to Question 9125, if he will provide a list of local planning authorities without an up-to-date local plan in place.

Answer

29% of local planning authorities have adopted a plan in the last five years. However, policies within plans age at different rates according to local circumstances, which means that a plan does not automatically become out of date after five years.

The Planning Inspectorate maintains a list of the status of local plans, including when they were adopted. This can be found on gov.uk here.
