Trams: Birmingham
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the timeline for completing the East Birmingham tram extension from Digbeth through Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and Tile Cross to Birmingham International Airport, the NEC and Arden Cross.
- Answer
-
Funding for local transport in the West Midlands is largely devolved. The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has been allocated £2.4bn of Transport for City Regions funding up to 2031/32, with decisions on how this funding is allocated taken by the Mayor in line with local transport priorities. Responsibility for the development and delivery of the Birmingham Eastside Extension scheme rests with WMCA.
