Anti-Muslim Hostility

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what guidance she has provided to police forces on their use of the Government's official definition of anti-Muslim hostility.

Answer

The Home Secretary has not provided guidance to police forces on their use of the Government’s non-statutory definition of anti-Muslim hostility. The definition is intended to support understanding and consistency in identifying hostility directed at Muslims or those perceived to be Muslim, and does not change the law.
