National Highways: Public Relations

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the answer of 30 June 2026, to Question 13259, on National Highways: Expenditure, which company or supplier provided the public affairs contract; if she will publish the contract and work specification; and for what reason an external public affairs contract was required in addition to the in-house staff.

Answer

Lexington were awarded the technical professional services’ public affairs contract in April 2023.

Details of all contracts awarded by the Department and its arm’s length bodies above the relevant thresholds are published on the Government’s Contracts Finder service. This includes information on the value and purpose of each contract.

The contract provides additional strategic support to inform the external affairs engagement activity, which is delivered by National Highways' own in-house team at local, regional and national level.
