Council Tax

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the answer of 2 April 2026 to Question 11413 on council tax, what was the methodology used by her Department to estimate the forecast rise in Band D council tax in (a) England, (b) Wales and (c) Scotland in each year.

Answer

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government only produce forecasts on behalf of the Office for Budget Responsibility for England. The methodology used by the Office for Budget Responsibility is published here: https://obr.uk/forecasts-in-depth/tax-by-tax-spend-by-spend/council-tax/.
