Digital Technology: Agricultural Machinery
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what discussions she has had with Cabinet colleagues on the Coalition on Secure Technology report entitled CIMs Risk in UK Agriculture, published on 7 September 2026, and the potential impact of Chinese manufactured chips in agricultural machinery on national security.
- Answer
-
The Government takes the protection of national security seriously and does not routinely comment on operational matters or specific threats.
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs works across Government to understand and manage risks and vulnerabilities affecting the UK agriculture sector arising from connected technologies, including components used in agricultural machinery, proportionate to the assessed threat. The Government keeps potential risks to critical sectors under continual review and takes action where necessary.
