Special Educational Needs: Malvern

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what progress has been made on the delivery of Enterprise Academy, the proposed new Autism Spectrum Disorder Free School in Malvern, Worcestershire, following the letter sent by Worcestershire County Council on the 13th August 2026.

Answer

Following the government's announcement of a £3 billion investment for additional special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) places, the department remains committed to supporting children and young people with SEND and to delivering Enterprise Academy.

The department has appointed a Technical Adviser to develop the feasibility study for Enterprise Academy. As part of this work, the design is currently being reviewed to align with our latest school specifications and surveys are underway. The project team are engaging with MacIntyre Academies Trust and the local authority in relation to the new school.

The feasibility study will determine the delivery programme. At present, the new school buildings are anticipated to be ready for September 2029. A provisional opening date will be agreed once there is sufficient confidence that the buildings can be completed on time, typically around 12 months before opening.
