Pupils: Artificial Intelligence
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what steps her Department is is taking to ensure that pupils have access to opportunities to develop skills in the use of artificial intelligence.
- Answer
-
The world in which young people are growing up is changing rapidly, and we want every pupil to develop the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in life and work.
Following the Curriculum and Assessment Review, our refreshed curriculum will equip pupils with essential technological and digital skills, including the knowledge needed to engage with artificial intelligence (AI) safely, responsibly and in an age-appropriate way. All proposed content will be subject to public consultation.
To support the teaching of AI, the department-funded National Centre for Computing Education delivers a range of free and flexible online courses, including a course supporting teachers to understand generative AI, use it for asset creation, and promote its effective and safe use.
