Trade Agreements: Furs
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, if he will take steps to ensure any future trade deal does not impact the UK's ban on the fur trade.
- Answer
-
The UK does not permit fur farming and our trade agreements will always maintain UK levels of statutory protection in relation to human, animal or plant life or health, animal welfare and the environment.
Defra is bringing together a working group on fur, with involvement from both industry experts and those who support restrictions on the trade in fur, to explore concerns and the different ways in which they could be addressed.
