Animal Experiments: Primates

Question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the potential implications for her policies of the recommendations made by the Animals in Science Committee on non-human primates used in service licenses, published on 18 December 2025; and what her timeline for publication of a response.

Answer

The Government welcomes the advice provided by the Animals in Science Committee (ASC) on non-human primates used in service licences and is carefully considering its recommendations to inform policy and regulatory practice.

The Government will publish its response by the end of June 2026.
