Vistry Group: Affordable Housing
- Question
-
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the answer of 17 April 2026, to Question 124288, on Affordable Housing: Vistry Group, whether (a) his department, (b) the social housing regulator and (c) Homes England has made an assessment of the financial sustainability of the Vistry Group to deliver Government contracts; and what assessment has been made of the potential impact of its financial position on (i) the Affordable Housing Programme delivery and (ii) the 1.5 million homes target.
- Answer
-
My Department does not undertake financial sustainability assessments of individual providers delivering homes through the Affordable Homes Programme.
Instead, it sets the priorities and parameters of affordable housing grant programmes and delegates delivery of those, including allocations to individual contractors, to our two delivery partners, Homes England and the Greater London Authority (GLA).
Homes England and the GLA have robust controls in place to programme manage delivery by partners who receive funding. These include qualifications, governance arrangements, and due diligence checks.
Any future requests for funding will be assessed in line with the criteria for the Social and Affordable Homes Programme set out in Homes England’s bidding guidance which can be found on gov.uk here and for the GLA programme linked here.
