Asylum: LGBT People

Question

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, further to the answer by Baroness Williams of Trafford on 14 December (HL Deb, cols. 1235-6), why authority from the Immigration Minister, which was stated at the Home Office Strategic Engagement Group in September as being required to publish statistics from the casework database to show the number of people seeking asylum on the basis of sexual orientation, remains outstanding.

Answer

The Home Office remains committed to publishing information on the number of people claiming asylum on the basis of sexual orientation. Any data publications must be in line with reporting standards. Work is ongoing to assure the quality of the data for publication.
