Ukraine: Children

Question

To ask His Majesty's Government, following the issuing of International Criminal Court arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova for alleged war crimes following forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, what discussions they (1) are having, or (2) intend to have, with the ICC about similar charges being brought against Alexander Lukashenko.

Answer

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is an independent judicial institution. It is for the ICC Prosecutor to determine who should be charged for alleged war crimes, in situations where the ICC has jurisdiction. The Government does not have and does not intend to have discussions with the ICC on who should be charged in relation to the situation in Ukraine.
