(8) what estimate she has made of the proportion of alcohol sales which would increase in price if a minimum alcohol unit price of 40 pence was implemented;

In the forthcoming months the Government will produce an Impact Assessment that will consider the impact of minimum unit pricing on a number of key groups; including the impact on the alcohol industry as a whole, impact on the Exchequer, income groups and consumer groups. The Assessment will refer to the most recent available evidence and analysis relating to reducing consumption and tackling harmful drinking. These impacts will be measured against a range of minimum price levels.

The Government will launch a consultation in the forthcoming months on key proposals in the Alcohol Strategy, including the level to be set for a minimum unit price. We will consider representations as part of that consultation.
