To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many offenders were referred to treatment for using MCAT in the last year for which figures are available.

[holding answer 18 October 2012]: Information is not collected centrally about the number of users of the drug MCAT (mephedrone) within the criminal justice system. The most recently published data from the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System show that in 2010-11, 461 adults and 411 young people identified MCAT as their principal drug but the data do not record whether a person was within the criminal justice system at the time of treatment.
