The Department's latest estimate of the total number of road traffic casualties, including those not reported to the police, is that there was a total of 730 thousand casualties in 2011. The information required to update this estimate is not yet fully available. However, the Department plans to update this estimate for the year 2012 in its annual road safety publication, ‘Reported Road Casualties Great Britain’, scheduled for release in September 2013.
