Illegal Immigrants: Employment

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps her Department is taking to increase the collection of fines from employers of illegal migrant workers.

[holding answer 15 October 2013]: The Immigration Bill, introduced to Parliament on 10 October, proposes some specific steps to make it easier to enforce the recovery of unpaid civil penalty debts in the civil courts.
In the meantime, our officials are active members of a cross Government effort looking at driving down the levels of unpaid debt and so have some initiatives in train to drive up levels of payment in advance of the enactment of new legislation.
