Babies

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many babies had to be detoxified at birth from the substance upon which their mother was dependent in each of the last 10 years.

Answer

It is not possible to identify 'detoxified at birth' using the ICD-10 classification¹ Instead we have provided a count of finished admission birth episodes where there was a primary or secondary diagnosis of neonatal withdrawal symptoms from maternal use of drugs of addiction.
