To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs who is responsible for managing overhanging vegetation which may impede the flow of a river and increase flooding risk.

Under common law, the person who owns the land or property next to a river or other watercourse is responsible for maintaining the bed and banks of the watercourse.
