- Question
-
Alcohol continues to be implicated in a high proportion of crime, especially crimes of violence. When will the Government take effective steps to reduce levels of alcohol abuse and the associated crime?
- Answer
-
We are taking a large number of steps to deal with alcohol abuse, including the introduction of late-night levies, including the local action areas and including the early morning restriction orders. We are also dealing with the industry and securing voluntary action from it. In fact, I am meeting the industry in about 45 minutes to see what progress has been made.
