Business question from Lord Coaker (Labour) in the House of Commons on Thursday, 19 April 2018. It occurred during Business statement on Business of the House.
Business of the House
I join the right hon. Member for South Holland and The Deepings (Mr Hayes) in pressing the Leader of the House to have an urgent debate and a continuing report from the Home Secretary on the serious violence strategy she has announced. The young and the middle-aged in London and across the country are being stabbed and becoming the victims of violent crime. We are seeing huge increases in violent crime. This is an emergency for the Government and the House should discuss it regularly. Local communities, including Nottingham Forest Football Club and Notts County Football Club, are coming together to try to tackle and stand up against this increase in violent
crime, but we need the Government to report regularly to Parliament on what they are doing to tackle this scourge.
