To ask Her Majesty’s Government what discussions they have had, or intend to seek, with the acting director of the BBC about the use of compromise agreements in relation to departing BBC employees and contractors.[HL6000]

There have been no discussions with the directors of the BBC in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland regarding compromise agreements in relation to departing BBC employees and contractors. Under the terms of the BBC’s charter and agreement, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the corporation’s day-to-day operations.
