Mr. Portillo: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many work permits (a) have been and (b) will be issued to
persons formerly accommodated at Sangatte and admitted to the UK under the recently negotiated special arrangements. [87509]
Beverley Hughes: Iraqis from Sangatte have been given a visa which permits them to work; 899 of these visas had been issued.
