To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, what progress he has made on (a) sponsors for, (b) exhibitors and (c) construction of the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015.
UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is in discussion with a number of potential sponsors, and will announce sponsorships as they are contractually confirmed.
UK companies will be offered a range of opportunities to promote their products, services and expertise; at the UK Pavilion; in the centre of Milan as part of a global business programme; and as part of the wider campaign âGrown In Britainâ which will be delivered internationally through UKTI/Foreign & Commonwealth Office global networks.
Construction is proceeding according to timetable. The Expo organisers handed over the UK lot on 28 October 2014. The foundations of our Pavilion are complete. The manufacture of prefabricated elements of the Pavilion has begun in York. Construction on-site in Milan will begin imminently.

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they will make proposals for better sharing of the burdens now falling on Malta, Italy and Greece from the flow of refugees and migrants seeking to enter Europe.
The Government believes that the best way to help EU Member States who are experiencing high levels of illegal migration and asylum claims is through practical co-operation and support to build up their capacity so they can cope with the pressures on their system. We already provide such support and will continue to do so, both through the European Asylum Support Office and bilaterally. We are also working with EU partners to strengthen border security, improve cooperation with source and transit countries and tackle the organised criminal groups involved in people smuggling and human trafficking.
We do not agree that burden sharing in the sense of intra-EU relocation of asylum seekers or refugees as advocated by the countries referred to is the right solution: we believe that such measures would induce even more illegal migrants to risk their lives making the dangerous journey across the Mediterranean.

I am not aware of complaints on the handling of correspondence by our ambassador in Rome. Passport renewal is the responsibility of Her Majesty's Passport Office under the responsibility of Home Office Ministers. Any related correspondence received in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is therefore transferred to that Office for response.

UKTI and Invest NI have a close working relationship and cooperate whenever possible to attract trade and investment to Northern Ireland.

The discrimination faced by UK and foreign national lecturers in Italy is unacceptable and illegal. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Richmond (Yorks) (Mr Hague), raised the 'lettori' with the then Italian Foreign Minister, Emma Bonino, on 25 October 2013. I met the then Italian Europe Minister, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, on 19 November 2013, and stressed the importance of progress. I also met the Chairman of the Association of Foreign Lecturers in Italy (ALLSI), David Petrie, on 28 November 2013, and assured him of the Government's commitment to keep up the pressure on the Italian authorities. I raised the issue with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister, Marta Dassu, when I met her on 15 January. Most recently, the Minister for Universities and Science, my right hon. Friend the Member for Havant (Mr Willetts), has written to the new Italian Minister for Education, Research and Universities, Stefania Giannini, and underlined the importance of finding a solution.
