The Borders, Immigration and Citizenship System (BICS) is predominately funded by the user, and we think it is right that those who use it contribute to its cost, thereby reducing the burden on the UK taxpayer. We keep our fees for immigration and nationality applications under review and ensure they are within the parameters agreed with HM Treasury and Parliament, as set out in Section 68 (9) of the Immigration Act 2014.

Tier 5 Youth Mobility Schemes provide a cultural exchange programme that allows young people aged 18 to 30 from participating countries and territories to experience life in the UK for up to two years. In return, qualifying UK citizens enjoy similar access to our partner countries.
We have no current plans to increase the upper age limit of the scheme between the UK and Australia.

The UK keeps its visa system under regular review. Decisions on any changes are always taken in the round covering a wide range of considerations. These will vary globally, but often include security, compliance, returns, reciprocal arrangements for UK nationals and prosperity.

May I say to you from the highlands, Mr Speaker, gura math a thèid leat?
My constituent Rachel has been separated from her two young children and her husband Mark and forced to return to Malaysia because her £2,000 spousal visa application was refused. It was refused because her husband Mark’s payslips were not included. The problem is that payslips are not a requirement on the UK Visas and Immigration checklist. She called and emailed UKVI and was told that no other information was required. Does the Prime Minister consider that to be fair, and will he personally look into her new £2,000 application to ensure that this highland family are reunited by Christmas?

The forthcoming Immigration Bill will lay the foundation for a new immigration system which welcomes the people the country needs.
The Government is considering the design of the future immigration system and will outline plans shortly.

EEA and Swiss nationals will be able to continue to travel to the UK for holidays or short-term trips as they do now, without needing a visa.
The EU has also announced that UK nationals would be able to enter the EU visa-free for short periods after the country’s exit, provided EU nationals enjoy the same conditions when travelling to the UK.
Both these arrangements apply whether we leave the EU with or without a deal.
