A consultation on the new InterCity East Coast Franchise commenced on Tuesday 26 June and closes on 18 September 2012. The Department for Transport will produce a summary of the consultation responses alongside an invitation to tender which we expect to be published in January 2013. Our plan is that the winning bidder will be announced in August 2013 with the new franchise due to start in December 2013.
